Does the thought of sewing in a zip send you into a mild panic?

One of the most popular comments I hear is "I could never sew in a zip" or "I would love to learn to attach a zip."

"Start At The Beginning" is a new sewing workshop where you will learn the basics of sewing from the beginning, we will look at the different functions of sewing machines while making a range of items including tote bags, cushions, bunting and cosmetic bags. You will learn to sew different seams, attach bias binding and zips.

This new workshop will take place over 4 weeks, the class size will be a maximum of 4 people and all fabrics and trimmings are included.

Five years ago (May 2021) I entered a competition run by Theo Paphitis for Small Businesses. I'll always remember turning my phone on the next day to find a large number of notifications from other small businesses congratulating me on my win and the amazement and happiness I felt.

Every year since I have attended an event held by Theo Paphitis for all the winners. This weekend I have been in Birmingham for this years event, during the day I met lots of other fantastic small businesses, spoke with companies such as Robert Dyas and listened to some amazing speakers as well as listening to the fantastic Theo Paphitis himself.

I'm back home now with lots to think about and plan both for the short and long term.
